Came back to my car to find an absence of air from starboard astern. Not good, when you have one of those cars whose only concession to this difficulty is a spray kit and a compressor. What do do? Where could I find a tyre repair place at 6 pm on a Saturday? But wait. The repair kit includes a compressor . The tyre wasn’t flat, so slow puncture. Does a 15 year old compressor still work?

Well, after a remarkably long time huffing and puffing and an equally remarkably loud noise, it succeeded in going from an alarming 0.8 bar to the advised 2 bar. Result! It eve n stayed inflated for the next hour so I could get home.

Nice. I got a flat in the MINI  on my way to work Friday. I knew the runflats could handle getting to work but I wasn’t keen on driving an hour or so home on the expressway. Fortunately I found a nearby tire shop and they were even able to get an exact replacement. But I still always worry about getting a flat in the middle of nowhere late at night.
